Tomorrow's a big day here in the nation's capital. The infamous Alex and Lyn from the latest installment of the Amazing Race, will be married live on a local radio station at 8 a.m. Now there's something to put Ottawa on the map! Wishing everyone the best!
Oh Happy Birthday Ted!
Hi Nan!
May 27, 2005
It's Friday and it's been a long week....so to celebrate the fact that I got sooooo much done this week, I'm going out tonight whether I like it or not:) I'm going to see Amityville before it leaves the big screen and of course it wouldn't be a night of horror if I didn't go with Heather. She 'likes' scary movies but always brings a jacket big enough to block her entire view of the screen during crucial scenes. It's great! I remember going to see Return of The Dead with her and she actually accused me of taking too long to unlock the car door in the parking lot after the film!
On other news, I'm still trying to come to terms with the fact that 6 Feet Under is digging its last grave. Unprepared both emotionally and physically, I received this news by surprise while watching Ellen (Alanis performed One Hand in My Pocket from her new album-acoustic version and she rocked-she just seems so freakin' happy) the other day and Nate okay, Peter, was a guest. Not only did I find out that the show was ending. I also caught a sentence or two about something that happens later on in season four (I'm only on the 2nd episode of season 4!). Season 3 gave me a big freak and according to my sister-in-law, season 4 is going to freak me even more. I guess it doesn't help when you watch the entire season over a few nights but that's how I like to do it and if I could, I'd watch most series t.v. this way. So I plan to finish season 4 early next week (Tada-quick, get the season finale to a mailbox soon) and will then do whatever I have to to get to season 5. Hopefully this will help me deal with waiting until fall to find out how Walter fits in with 'the others' on the LOST island. Do you remember the movie-I think it was called 'The Others' with Nicole Kidman? Great film!
Okay, I'd also like to report that my outfit 'menu' for the CTV Fall Launch 'do' and for the 2005 Canadian Walk of Fame has been finalized. Just have to refresh my natural highlights and polish up my toes to make them once again worthy of open toe shoes (something to think about Rob and Ted).
Speaking of Canada's 2005 Walk of Fame, one of this year's inductees just came out with a new album. Paul Anka's latest musical endeavor is entitled 'Rock Swings' and he's taken big rock and pop songs from the 80's & 90's and made a 'retro-swing and ballad' album (Brad Wheeler from the Globe's words, not mine). Apparently he sings some Nirvana and Van Halen! Cool is what I say!

What does everyone think about the new Gwen Stefani song 'Hollaback Girl (I've only heard the clean version). It makes you feel like getting a couple of friends together and forming a pyramid while shouting out a rhyming cheer! Go Team!
I've watched the first two episodes of Season 3 of 6 Feet Under and to say I'm a little freaked would be an understatement-Is this life Nate is living some kind of joke to the viewing public??!?! Anyways, I hope to fit in a few more episodes tonight to clear things us. OH, and even better news than season 3 of 6 Feet coming out on dvd was when my sis-in-law came over and instead of bringing me flowers, she brought me season 4! I love that girl more than usual right now!
Just got a new cell phone and look out because it has a camera in it. Silly hotel 'lost' my adapter and it just made sense to get a new phone over buying a new adapter. Or did it? Either way it's a done deal. The frustrating part is that I had just become comfortable with the old phone and its features (after 2 years). OH, and I received a nice Nikon digital camera as a gift! Just have to learn how to use that one---But once I've mastered it look out as I will be posting lots of pics here!
Any guesses to which talent I will be wrangling at the 2005 Canadian Walk of Fame?

I can't believe or understand where the time has gone....I think I've been off-track since my recent brush with all things Hollywood. Since Canadian Idol wouldn't come to me this year, I had to go to Toronto to be a part of this exciting production once again and the trip down was well worth it. This year's 'staff' shirts and the craft service alone made it worth the drive. We had yummy food, hot lunches and dinners and there was lots to eat even at breakfast time. I don't know how well I would fare waist-wise if I was to do this kind of work all the time....It's the desserts and potato things that really make me weak! Anyways, it was a whirlwind of busy activity and positive frenzy for those few days that I worked on Idol 3 this year and I saw all kinds of things-some which will be shared with the viewing public when the show debuts at the end of May.
Even more exciting than Idol ( I know-what could be more exciting than that?) is that I am going to be wrangling talent at the 2005 Canadian Walk of Fame in early June. It will be exciting for sure! Hmmm, who's going to be there you might ask? Keifer Sutherland, Alanis Morissette, Paul Anka, Jason Bateman, a Fay Wray representative and many, many more. Tom Greene is hosting and there's a red carpet and everything. I will be wrangling one of the above but won't let the secret out of the bag just yet.
Okay, so that's pretty wow right? Well, even more wow is that I will be going to the CTV Fall Programming launch. There will be lots of t.v. stars there as everyone gets together to celebrate and promote the fall shows! Fun, fun, fun. I may never come back to suburbia and mommy hood! What if someone asks me to run away to Hollywood to be their personal assistant?!?!?!?
So, not only did I leave the iron on during my recent trip to Toronto-something I NEVER do....But I also did something else I never do. I lost a bag. More accurately, I left one of my bags in the parking lot at City Hall where I was parked during my stay at the Sheraton. Not only did I leave it there but I didn't notice it was missing until I decided to brush my teeth before heading out for a night on the town. And then I knew. I had a sinking feeling and it wasn't from my dentures that were soaking in a cup in the bathroom (okay, I still have all my teeth-I just thought it made the story more interesting to say that). I knew that the bag was missing....and that I had been absent-minded and forgot it somewhere. The good news is that it wasn't the bag with my laptop etc but it was the bag with all of the 'natural' products that make me look 'nice' everyday (even when I 'm not feeling nice). My make-up, my salon flat iron, all of my new health and beauty aids from Kiehls (and for those of you that know Kiehls you know that you could easily spend an amount equal to the price of a laptop in that shop). But most importantly I was upset because I don't like to lose things. I find it rather inconvenient and a bit of a weakness. So I started the paper trail trace and checked with concierge and then I re-traced my steps back to the parking garage hoping beyond hope that I had left it in the car but knowing I didn't as I could faintly remember taking the red knapsack out of the car and swinging it over my shoulder and then everything goes blank. So I walk to the lot and see a note on my little red car and it says that a bag was found beside the car and to go to the parking office. My hopes up, I skipped over and there was my knapsack. Apparently someone saw it and went and told the parking authority and they searched it and retrieved it to their office. And while ever thankful, I did check to make sure my ceramic flat iron was still there-those things cost a mint:) So my knapsack and I did live happily ever after although I can't say the same thing for the 'suspicious bag' found on Bloor Street while I was in Holt Renfrew the next day. Imagine the surprise and negative frenzy when, after spending too much money on more beauty products guaranteed to keep my skin soft, supple and other things, we were told by a nice looking security hunk that we couldn't leave through the front doors as the street was blocked off between Yonge and Bay. Well, for those of you that know Toronto, this is one of the busiest shopping blocks in the city and hello, it's Saturday. I lead my friend Rosa with me and we head underground. Toronto has an underground walkway called 'the path' and it goes for miles. Some people that live downtown can get all the way to work without ever stepping outside (I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not). Anyways, we weren't sure that the Bloor line subway would be working so we walked underground to the Yonge line and got out of there quick. Rumour later was that it was a suspicious looking red bag.......
I love the big city and all of its ironies!

OMG! Has it really been THAT long since I last posted?!?!? Well pardon me! I promise to write more about my ten days away with the circus soon! In the meantime and due to writing deadlines elsewhere, I leave you with the following.
This was waiting for me on the kitchen counter the morning I was leaving the friends house I was staying at while in Toronto gallivanting and working on Canadian Idol 3.
Hi Laurel 7:30 am
"Hope you had a nice time with your family and sister. thanks for the two tea mugs. Hopefully once my 2nd degree burns go down I will be able to comfortably grasp the handle." Seems I kinda sorta left the iron on all day! I NEVER do this (or didn't until this particular incident) and I iron everything!!!!! And that's not the only thing I did while away that I never normally do....more to come!
In the meantime, if you're looking for something to read go to columns & musings
