The view from here.Yukon, our Bernese Mountain Dog, is the ONLY one still appreciating our winter 'wonder' land!

This weather is making me squirrely!

Check out my first addition to 'Rock Star Status' on the sidebar. It's great stuff. Whimsy and intelligent for art's sake:)
We are close to the end of the month. It has been a long month. Hell, it has been a long winter! It keeps snowing no matter what I say or do. I guess my powers in the weather department really are null and void.
Today is an important day as I support a friend as she goes through the process of laying her mom to rest. It is a celebration of life but it is laced with grief. There is no way around that. Death causes grief. Missing someone can be so intense, especially when you know they are not coming back. At least they are not coming back the way you want them to. Because do not doubt that our loved ones hang around long after they have left their physical bodies. They are all around us, often protecting and insulating us. They cry and laugh with us and most of all, they are proud. Your mom is very proud today K.

Something I am working on
“Anything else?” he hollers down the stairs. “I think that’s
it,” she says. “Okay, I’ll see my girls later,” he answers,
keys jingling in the background, and then he is gone. We are
sitting in our cozy family room, typical of the 1970’s with
it’s orange and brown furniture and ‘tastefully’ mirrored
accent wall, which is okay because it is the 1970’s. We’re
watching Little House on the Prairie, my two sisters and I,
and strangely enough, sitting side by side and being quite
civil towards each other, when we are distracted from the
television screen by a face popping up at the sliding glass
doors. We all scream, jumping off the itchy orange sofa in
fright and then, realizing it’s Daddy, we laugh and shake
our heads at him. And then with his trademark wink and a
turn, he is gone. Really gone. Forever.

A fresh start. A new focus. Hopefully more content on a regular basis as I commit more time to my writing and my collection.
